Every month of the first year

The monthly photo, but make it a magazine cover.

Every number on a BQ cover is worked out from the baby's actual birthday, so each month produces a genuinely different cover rather than the same one with the age swapped. Pick a month to see what the engine writes for a baby that age.

Newborn
Week one is a blur of laundry and 3am negotiations with someone who cannot yet hold up their own head and is nonetheless unmistakably in charge.
1 month
One month in, the baby has developed opinions and no way to file them except volume.
2 months
Somewhere around two months the first real smiles turn up, and they are devastating — largely because they are so obviously conditional.
3 months
Three months is when the fog thins and a personality starts showing through.
4 months
Four months brings hands.
5 months
Five months is the rolling era, which is less a milestone than a security situation.
6 months
Half a year, and the arrival of food — which is really the arrival of opinions about food.
7 months
Seven months is the age of the deeply suspicious stare.
8 months
Eight months is mobility without judgment.
9 months
Nine months out — as long outside as in — and pulling up on the furniture has begun.
10 months
Ten months brings the first words, or at least the first sounds the household has collectively agreed to call words.
11 months
Eleven months is the last month of the first year and everybody can feel it coming.
First birthday
One year in, infinite potential — and the cover the whole family wants on the wall.
